Nintendo has rolled out the second collection of user icons featuring artwork from Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 for its Nintendo Switch Online service.
This update, available from October 5, 2025, allows Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 owners to further personalize their profiles using beloved imagery from two of the most celebrated platformers in the Super Mario franchise.
To access these exclusive user icons, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers simply need to go to the Nintendo Switch Online section, which is located on the bottom row of both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 Home Menus.
From there, users can browse, download, and combine various icon elements inspired by the vibrant worlds, memorable power-ups, and charismatic characters introduced in Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel.
Nintendo Switch Online, which initially launched in fall 2018, has seen continuous growth and expansion of its subscriber benefits, with user icon customizations becoming a fan-favorite feature.
By bringing in assets from hit titles like Super Mario Galaxy (originally released on the Wii in 2007) and Super Mario Galaxy 2 (which followed in 2010), Nintendo continues to celebrate its rich legacy while keeping community engagement at the forefront.
A Nintendo spokesperson reiterated the company's focus on providing new and engaging content for their subscribers, stating in an official update that diverse customization options are part of their commitment to delivering unique ways for players to express themselves on Nintendo platforms.
The spokesperson emphasized that regular icon waves are a response to strong user demand for beloved characters and classic game artwork.
With over 100 million Nintendo Switch consoles shipped as of the latest reports, and the follow-up Nintendo Switch 2 gaining traction, the addition of new icon waves from iconic franchises offers fans more ways to connect with their favorite games.
This fan-driven feature not only promotes continued Nintendo Switch Online engagement, but also spotlights some of the company’s most popular titles available through the expanding Switch eShop library.
Subscribers are encouraged to check the Nintendo Switch Online menu regularly for new icon drops and limited-time events tied to both classic and current Nintendo properties.
