Nintendo fans and collectors have a unique new item to hunt for: Super Mario Cereal, developed in partnership with Kellogg's and Nintendo, is officially confirmed for release in North America.
Blending the worlds of gaming and breakfast, this novelty product not only celebrates one of Nintendo’s most iconic characters, but also incorporates interactive technology through built-in amiibo support.
Officially spotted on a Target inventory listing earlier this week, Super Mario Cereal has been validated by both retailer and manufacturer.
Twitter user Infin received a direct response from Kellogg’s UK & Ireland confirming the product's existence and regional scope.
According to the statement, the cereal is set to launch in the United States, while there are currently no plans for release in the UK.
A representative from Kellogg’s acknowledged the regional limitation, stating, 'We can confirm this product is being released in the US but not currently in the UK.
We will pass your feedback on!'
The cereal, priced at $3.14 as per Target’s systems, will be available on shelves exclusively across North America, making it a collectible item for Nintendo fans on the continent.
In addition to the marshmallow and grain cereal inspired by the Mushroom Kingdom, the box features a unique twist—embedded amiibo functionality.
Photos shared by Reddit users display the back of the Super Mario Cereal box, where the amiibo integration takes center stage.
By tapping a Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controller to the designated amiibo logo on the box, players can unlock special in-game bonuses in Super Mario Odyssey, the acclaimed platformer released for the Nintendo Switch.
This interactive element demonstrates Nintendo’s ongoing innovation at the intersection of physical merchandise and digital gameplay.
Super Mario Odyssey has been a flagship title for Nintendo since its release on the Nintendo Switch in October 2017, praised for its inventive design and engaging mechanics.
The inclusion of amiibo functionality in a consumer product like cereal further drives engagement and keeps the iconic Super Mario franchise top of mind for a wide audience.
While Kellogg's Super Mario Cereal is currently limited to the North American market, its confirmed release, unique amiibo compatibility, and association with a flagship Nintendo Switch title ensures it will be highly sought after by fans and collectors alike.
