Splatoon Raiders background and platform

Splatoon Raiders is slated to launch worldwide for Nintendo Switch 2 on 23 July 2026, available both at retail and digitally via the Nintendo eShop.

The Splatoon franchise, developed and published by Nintendo (Nintendo EPD), is best known for its multiplayer ink-based shooter roots established with Splatoon on Wii U (2015) and continued by Splatoon 2 on Nintendo Switch (2017) and Splatoon 3 (2022).

Splatoon Raiders represents a single-player-focused take on the series for Nintendo's next-generation portable-home hybrid hardware.

What Nintendo has confirmed

Nintendo has said the upcoming Direct will run for about 15 minutes and concentrate on new single-player details for Splatoon Raiders.

In journalistic terms: Nintendo indicated the showcase will provide a concise, roughly quarter-hour briefing dedicated to the game's single-player campaign and features.

Gameplay and story details

Nintendo's promotional materials describe players taking on the role of an Inkling mechanic who joins Deep Cut's musicians — Shiver, Frye and Big Man — on a treasure-hunting expedition across the Spirhalite Islands.

One band member will accompany the player in an Exploration Bot during raids.

Players can customise their Inkling's appearance, equip mechanical gadgets and ink-based weaponry, and face hordes of enemies called Salmonids as they undertake raids and salvage loot across unique locations in the Splatoon universe.

Additional media and lead-up content

Nintendo has also made free daily prequel comics available through the Nintendo Today! app on smart devices to set up the story leading into Splatoon Raiders.

These comics will be published daily through Wednesday, 22 July 2026.
