Splatoon 3 Ends New Eggstra Work Scenarios, Future Events to Reuse Past Content

Nintendo’s ink-splatting shooter Splatoon 3, which launched for Nintendo Switch in September 2022, has stood as a mainstay for the Switch’s vibrant multiplayer ecosystem.

Developed by Nintendo EPD, Splatoon 3 impressed both critics and players with refined gameplay, a popular Salmon Run co-op mode, and frequent post-launch updates—including its signature Eggstra Work events.

However, as of February 2024, Nintendo has officially announced a major shift in how these events will evolve moving forward. In a post shared by the official @SplatoonJP X account and covered by community sources, Nintendo confirmed that the upcoming Eggstra Work event will be the last to introduce entirely new job scenarios—the unique, predetermined conditions that define each co-op shift.

From here on out, all Eggstra Work events will reuse scenarios previously featured since the game's debut.

While this change means players won't see fresh challenges in future rotations, it could streamline preparation and strategy for veterans of the series. Splatoon 3's Eggstra Work events have continued to receive new variations even after the end of regular content updates in September 2024, providing ongoing co-op excitement for dedicated fans.

The final Eggstra Work event offering a new scenario will be held from February 14 to February 15, 2024, set within the Bonerattle Arena—a location familiar to Salmon Run enthusiasts.

After this point, recurring events will bring back a selection of past scenarios, meaning players can anticipate content they may have missed or wish to revisit. This evolution comes as other mainstays like the series’ seasonal Splatfests also begin to cycle through established themes from earlier Splatoon titles.

While this signals an effective end to new content additions for Splatoon 3, the core multiplayer and co-op experiences remain active, underscoring Nintendo’s commitment to sustaining its community with ongoing events. Although Nintendo has not announced Splatoon 4 or a major new expansion, the franchise remains a point of interest.

Notably, the story-driven spin-off 'Splatoon Raiders' was revealed in 2023, but further updates have been scarce.

Intrigue for the series continues as recent age rating listings for Splatoon 3 on the anticipated Switch 2 hardware appeared on the PEGI website, sparking discussion about potential future enhancements or re-releases for the next generation of Nintendo consoles. Splatoon 3’s ongoing support underscores both the popularity and longevity of Nintendo’s multiplayer ecosystem.

With future Eggstra Work events set to revisit fan-favorite scenarios, longtime players can still look forward to cooperative challenges on Nintendo Switch, even as the franchise’s next steps wait on the horizon.
