Sonic X Shadow Generations: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack DLC Gets Standalone Price and Release Date

Sega has officially revealed the standalone pricing and release details for the highly anticipated 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack' downloadable content (DLC) for Sonic X Shadow Generations.

The DLC, previously included only with the digital deluxe edition of the game, is now confirmed to be available separately for $5.99 USD (or equivalent regional pricing), giving more players access to this special content via the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. Sonic X Shadow Generations, developed and published by Sega, reimagines classic and modern Sonic gameplay by featuring both Sonic and Shadow the Hedgehog in an adventure spanning multiple timelines.

The game is set for its global release on October 25, 2024, with digital and physical editions available for Nintendo Switch and other leading consoles. The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack is inspired by scenes from the upcoming live-action film 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3', slated to debut in theaters on December 20, 2024.

This exclusive DLC introduces a new level set in the vibrant streets of modern-day Shibuya, directly referencing plot elements from the movie.

According to the official Nintendo eShop listing, all players who purchase the digital deluxe edition of Sonic X Shadow Generations will also receive the Movie Pack at no additional cost.

For those who opted for the standard edition, the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack can be purchased individually. "We wanted to offer players a fresh experience that connects the worlds of the game and the new movie, while still providing a unique level design and challenge," commented Sonic series producer Shun Nakamura on the PlayStation Blog.

Nakamura clarified that the DLC content is not a direct retelling of the movie's story, but rather presents Shadow in a Tokyo-inspired environment, as seen in the film's promotional material. Sega also revealed an all-new story trailer for Sonic X Shadow Generations during their recent Sonic Central and Sony's State of Play broadcasts.
