Production on Sonic Movie 4 has officially wrapped, director Jeff Fowler confirmed, as the Paramount Pictures and SEGA-backed franchise moves into post-production ahead of its scheduled theatrical release on March 19, 2027.

The fourth film in the live-action/CGI Sonic the Hedgehog series brings back several established cast members and teases a high-profile robotic adversary from the games.

Fowler announced the end of principal photography alongside a promotional image featuring himself and Metal Sonic.

In his statement, Fowler said principal photography is complete and that the cast and crew believe they have delivered the strongest Sonic film to date.

The director shared a short teaser shot intended to mark the milestone and thank the production team.

Metal Sonic was first hinted at in the series' previous installment, which also introduced Amy Rose to the cinematic continuity.

Amy Rose will be portrayed by Kristen Bell in the upcoming film, a casting detail confirmed by production reporting.

Returning voice and cast talent confirmed for Sonic Movie 4 include Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Jim Carrey as Dr. Eggman, Idris Elba as Knuckles, Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Tails, and Keanu Reeves as Shadow.

Paramount Pictures is handling distribution while SEGA remains the IP owner behind the Sonic franchise.

The Sonic franchise maintains a long history in video games across multiple platforms, and recent Sonic titles such as Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces are available on Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop.

While the cinematic series is a separate adaptation, its characters and designs are rooted in SEGA's gaming catalogue.

With principal photography wrapped, the film will now enter editing, visual effects, and sound mixing stages before its March 19, 2027 release.

Fans and industry observers can expect further marketing, trailers, and official promotional materials from Paramount Pictures as the project moves through post-production.

For players and viewers tracking Sonic across media, the new movie provides another major milestone for the long-running SEGA property.
