Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds' Year Two update (Version 2.0.0) has gone live, bringing a broad suite of new modes, balance changes and live-service improvements from developer Sega.

The patch was posted as live on Wed 4th Nov 2026 (1:15am), and it launches the Godzilla Pack as the first paid Year Two DLC while adding Bayonetta as the first free character update for Year Two (announced ahead of the rollout on 3rd November 2026).

Context and developer message

Sega Global Community Director Aaron Webber previewed the Year Two rollout, telling players to expect "new additions, changes and improvements"—a summary Sega expanded into a large patch note that reworks matchmaking, gadgets, festival structure and course balance.

Sega also thanked players for their support and confirmed ongoing live-service work and further tuning based on player feedback.

Key additions in Version 2.0.0

- Duel Mode: A new 1v1 competitive option that supports offline Rival Duels against CPU, online Duel Matches including Best-of-10 events, and a two-player Friend Match.

On Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, the Friend Match supports Local Wireless play.

Duel Mode introduces a Duel Boost gauge that fills during a duel and can be activated for clutch comebacks.

- Super Slot and Gadget expansion: The update adds a seventh gadget slot (Grand Master Plate) plus 15 new gadgets and several one-slot Gadget variants.

Players who reach Grand Master Plate will have immediate access to the Super Slot after installing the patch.

- World Match and Festival updates: Free Matches (non-ranked) and Rival matchmaking were added, Festivals were extended from three to ten days and festival rankings now prioritize win streaks.

New crown types (Red, Blue, Gold) and AI Rival teams were also introduced.

- Play Missions and Shop: Play Missions now offer regular objectives that reward Donpa Tickets and Duel Medals; those currencies can be spent in a new in-game Shop for auras, horns, decals, characters and Jukebox tracks.

Balance, fixes and platform notes

Version 2.0 shortens online Ring respawn times, rebalances Ring-related Gadgets (Ring Engine, Hyper Ring Engine, Ring Evolution), buffs certain underused Gadgets and adjusts Machine type performance.

A long list of course, item and CPU fixes is included, and several unlock requirements for Gadget Plates were lowered to ease progression.

The update also includes credits and live-operation data for future events.

What this means for players

Year Two's initial drop is focused on competitive variety and live-service longevity: 1v1 Duels, a deeper Gadget system with the Super Slot, longer festivals and ongoing balance passes.

Bayonetta arrives as a free character at the start of Year Two, while the Godzilla Pack is the first paid DLC offering.

For Switch owners, Local Wireless support for two-player duels is explicitly noted.

Sega has indicated it will continue monitoring usage and win rates and apply further adjustments in future patches.
