Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Version 1.4.1 Patch Notes — Classic Sonic, Mach Cyclone, and World Championship Dates
SEGA's Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has received its Version 1.4.1 update, published on 23 June 2026. The live patch, available for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and PC (Steam/Epic), celebrates Sonic's 35th anniversary with new playable content, music additions, competitive balance changes and event preparations tied to the World Championship 2026 qualifiers.

Key additions and verified details
- Characters and music: Classic Sonic is now playable, with Mach Cyclone added as a selectable vehicle. New tracks include Studiopolis Zone Act 2, Mirage Saloon Act 1 and Hard Boiled Heavy Boss (Tee Lopes, Sonic Mania) and selections from Sonic Superstars by Tee Lopes and Jun Senoue. SEGA also added three anniversary songs to the in-game jukebox: "Speed Is My Life" (Jun Senoue & Nathan Sharp), "Here We Go ~ Run to the Future" (Yousa·Ling) and "ONSOKU WO KOETE" (Yunosuke).
- Gadgets and customization: Eight new Gadgets were introduced to expand build variety (Technique, Support, Status categories). Several Festival-distributed Gadgets are now purchasable with Donpa Tickets once certain Gadget Plate ranks are reached.
- Competitive balance: The update standardizes starting rings to 20 in all race modes except Time Trial, adjusts Ring Engine combinations, strengthens or reworks multiple Gadgets (Hyper Ring Engine, Crash Pads, Item Keeper, Tuner and Machine Kits), and lifts prior Festival restrictions on Ring Engine and Hyper Ring Engine following balance changes.
Events and World Championship 2026
SEGA has announced online qualifiers for the World Championship 2026 beginning 30 June and running through 19 July 2026, with finals scheduled in New York City on 9 October 2026. SEGA says the Top 24 racers from the qualifiers will advance to compete live in New York, and viewers can earn Twitch Drop rewards by watching participating streamers during the qualifier window.
Patch fixes and quality-of-life
The 1.4.1 patch also includes numerous bug fixes across courses, Race Park, Festival events and text localizations, plus updated staff credits and live operations data for upcoming World Tournaments.
