SEGA and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) unveiled the Sonic x Olympic collection on 23 June 2026, a co‑branded merchandise line released to coincide with Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary and Olympic Day.

The collection, the first drop under a new multi‑year licensing framework between SEGA CORPORATION and the IOC, pairs the blue hedgehog and friends with the Olympic rings to highlight shared values of movement, perseverance and excellence.

The Sonic x Olympic collection centers on a specially designed graphic that combines the Olympic rings with Sonic and his allies and aligns with the IOC’s global participation initiative Let’s Move — the official theme for Olympic Day.

Five distinct T‑shirt and hoodie motifs were produced, each showing a character trying an Olympic sport: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Shadow appear with basketball, skateboarding, weightlifting, tennis and football themes respectively.

The collection is available now at the Olympic Shop.

IOC messaging for Olympic Day this year emphasized a simple, motivational remit: “You Can Do This,” intended to encourage young people to take the first step into sport and build confidence through movement.

In journalistic terms, the IOC framed Olympic Day 2026 as a campaign to remind participants that initial awkwardness is normal and that sustained movement helps develop self‑belief — a message the Sonic partnership explicitly echoes.

This release represents the opening phase of the IOC’s Global Licensing Strategy with SEGA, designed to maintain year‑round engagement with the Olympic brand through official licensed products.

The multi‑year agreement appoints licensees to create co‑branded merchandise that merges Olympic iconography with SEGA intellectual property.

The collaboration also underscores Sonic’s broad platform reach: the franchise has supported multiple releases on Nintendo Switch, including Sonic Mania and Sonic Origins, keeping the character visible across consoles and digital storefronts such as the eShop.

For fans and collectors, the Olympic Shop offering provides the only official retail channel for this specific co‑branded apparel line.

SEGA and the IOC confirmed the collection’s launch in their joint announcement on 23 June 2026.
