Konami Introduces 'Snake Vs Bomberman' Mode for Xbox in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Konami has officially revealed an innovative new direction for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, its upcoming highly anticipated remake of Metal Gear Solid 3.

During the latest Sony State of Play, Konami shared the release date and new mode trailers across its official channels, confirming both launch details and platform-specific content.

The release date trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater confirms the game launches August 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

This remake, developed and published by Konami, is set to reintroduce the fan-favorite 'Snake Vs Monkey' mode on PlayStation 5 and Steam editions—a mode historically beloved by longtime fans for blending Metal Gear action with Sony’s quirky Ape Escape franchise. In 'Snake Vs Monkey,' originally introduced in the PlayStation 2 release of Metal Gear Solid 3 in 2004, players controlled Snake as he was tasked by Roy Campbell to sedate and capture mischievous monkeys from the Ape Escape series within familiar Snake Eater environments.

The North American and Japanese releases featured five levels, with European and Australian editions later expanding to seven.

This minigame was later included in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence but omitted from several subsequent collections, leaving fans eager for its return. However, due to Sony’s ownership of the Ape Escape intellectual property, 'Snake Vs Monkey' will not be available on Xbox Series X|S.

Instead, Konami has created a new exclusive mode for Xbox players: 'Snake Vs Bomberman.' While specific gameplay details remain under wraps, an official trailer released to Xbox audiences featured a brief silhouette of Bomberman, hinting at what’s to come.

Konami stated via official channels that more information regarding this special Bomberman collaboration will be disclosed soon, urging fans to stay tuned for further announcements. This approach underlines Konami's commitment to respecting platform-specific licensing agreements while offering each player base unique and engaging content.
