Shinobi: Art of Vengeance Announces SEGA Villains DLC Release Date for Nintendo Switch

SEGA has officially announced the highly anticipated SEGA Villains DLC for the action-packed title Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, set to launch globally on Nintendo Switch on April 3, 2026.

This new content expansion introduces a roster of legendary SEGA antagonists, giving longtime fans fresh challenges and new depth to the acclaimed franchise. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, developed and published by SEGA, has continued to build on the series’ rich legacy since its release on the Nintendo Switch.

By combining the classic side-scrolling ninja action Shinobi is known for with modern visuals and controls, SEGA has attracted both returning fans and new players to the franchise.

The game has already consolidated its place in the eShop’s action and platformer rankings, demonstrating strong engagement among the Nintendo Switch community. Launching next month, the SEGA Villains DLC brings players face-to-face with three of SEGA’s most infamous villains.

Gamers will confront Majima, known as the unpredictable "Mad Dog of Shimano" from the Yakuza series; Dr.

Eggman, the notorious evil genius and longtime nemesis of Sonic the Hedgehog; and Death Adder, the towering brute and primary antagonist from the Golden Axe series.

These characters have been meticulously adapted, with unique combat encounters and abilities that promise to test even seasoned ninja warriors. Speaking about the upcoming release, a representative from SEGA stated that the inclusion of iconic villains across the company’s storied game history was designed to pay homage to SEGA’s enduring legacy while offering exciting new content to Shinobi fans.

The representative emphasized that each villain brings their own signature attacks and strategies, providing a blend of nostalgia and challenge. To commemorate the announcement, SEGA has released a dynamic new animation trailer that showcases the upcoming villain battles and teases the high-stakes action players can expect.

The trailer is now available for viewing on SEGA’s official channels and via the Nintendo eShop listing for Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance remains available worldwide on Nintendo Switch through the eShop.
