SEGA and Limited Run Games have officially announced the first-ever physical release of Puyo Puyo Champions for the Nintendo Switch.
This marks a significant moment for collectors and fans of the longstanding puzzle franchise, which has largely been available in digital format outside of Japan.
Announced via Limited Run Games, the physical edition brings new options to Western audiences who have eagerly awaited a tangible copy since the game’s original Nintendo eShop launch in 2019.
Puyo Puyo Champions made its debut on the Nintendo Switch eShop in 2019, quickly becoming a fan favorite for its fast-paced competitive play and accessible mechanics.
Developed and published by SEGA, the title was praised for delivering the core experience of the franchise, though critics noted some limitations in available modes and tutorials.
Upon release, reviewers described it as a solid addition to any party game lineup, especially for those drawn in by the success of Puyo Puyo Tetris.
However, they also observed that newcomers might desire a more comprehensive introduction to the series.
Now, Limited Run Games has confirmed they will distribute a hard copy of Puyo Puyo Champions in the West, available for pre-order beginning February 14th, 2025—Valentine’s Day.
Orders will remain open until March 17th, 2025, with two versions available: a standard edition priced at $34.99 USD (with regional equivalents), and a Classic Edition for $64.99 USD.
The latter package includes a special case, a double-sided poster, and the game’s soundtrack, catering to devoted fans and collectors.
According to the publisher, the standard edition is expected to ship between July 24th and 31st, 2025.
For players who prefer digital downloads or do not wish to wait, Puyo Puyo Champions continues to be available on the Nintendo eShop.
As of now, the digital version is discounted to $1.99 USD, significantly lower than its regular price of $9.99 or £7.99, making the classic SEGA puzzler accessible to a broader audience.
The addition of a physical release for Puyo Puyo Champions highlights Limited Run Games’ ongoing commitment to preserving and celebrating digital-only titles in physical formats, a move that is well-regarded by gaming enthusiasts worldwide.
For SEGA and Nintendo Switch fans, this release offers a new way to experience one of Sega’s beloved puzzle franchises and add a collector’s item to their shelves.
Pre-orders for both editions will be available exclusively through the official Limited Run Games website.
With Puyo Puyo Champions maintaining its reputation as an engaging puzzle game since its release, physical and digital options now ensure the series remains accessible to Switch players both old and new.
