Sega has made a major announcement for fans of the Yakuza franchise, revealing that Yakuza Kiwami 2 is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.
The news broke during the recent Nintendo Partner Direct presentation, underscoring Sega’s continued commitment to bringing its acclaimed action-adventure series to Nintendo’s latest hardware.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 is set to land on the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 13th, 2025, marking the first time this celebrated entry makes its debut on a Nintendo platform.
Yakuza Kiwami 2, developed by RGG Studios and published by Sega, is a full remake of the original Yakuza 2, leveraging the Dragon Engine to enhance graphics and gameplay.
The Switch 2’s upgraded hardware – supporting features like DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) – ensures that the game’s visual fidelity matches its releases on other consoles, offering players the definitive experience on Nintendo’s hybrid platform.
The announcement highlighted a trailer featuring the Japanese voiceover, continuing Sega’s tradition of providing authentic performances.
While there was no confirmation about an English language dub for Yakuza Kiwami 2 on Switch 2, fans can expect support for several other languages.
In related news, Sega also announced an upgrade of the original Yakuza Kiwami for Nintendo Switch 2.
Previously released on the first-generation Switch in October 2024—timed to coincide with the Amazon Prime premiere of the Like a Dragon: Yakuza series—this enhanced version brings new language options and technical improvements.
The Switch 2 upgrade will not be free but is attractively priced at 990 yen (approximately $6.50 USD) on the Japanese eShop.
Both Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be available on November 13th, 2025, and Sega is offering a digital bundle for players who want to experience both games together.
This move follows the positive reception of Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut on the Nintendo Switch 2 and signals Sega’s broader initiative to expand the Yakuza and Like a Dragon series on Nintendo platforms.
With the Switch 2’s enhanced architecture, there is strong potential for more entries in the series to arrive in the future.
Sega’s ongoing partnership with Nintendo makes the hybrid console an increasingly important destination for RGG Studios’ portfolio.
For longtime fans and newcomers alike, these releases pave the way for continued growth of the Yakuza series on Nintendo hardware.
Stay tuned for more updates from Sega, RGG Studios, and Nintendo regarding further game releases and enhancements coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
