Jagex has published a multi-year roadmap for RuneScape: Dragonwilds that spans the remainder of 2026 and lays out content plans through 2027.
The developer behind the long-running RuneScape franchise confirmed a free winter update called Luminance will arrive as a prelude to a larger narrative arc called the Blood Crystal Saga, and announced a cadence of monthly and quarterly updates throughout 2027.
The Luminance update, scheduled for this winter, will introduce the new Prayer skill and serve as the immediate story bridge into next year’s content.
According to Jagex’s roadmap summary, the Luminance release sets the stage for players by continuing the Ashenfall storyline: while the arc surrounding Kuldra has concluded, Ashenfall’s narrative persists and players will be charged with protecting an elf named Ceridwen and her child from a pursuing bounty hunter called Morwyn.
Jagex also outlined the Blood Crystal Saga, which begins with an installment titled Song of Rebellion and is followed later in the year by Crown of Night.
The developer explained that Song of Rebellion will introduce a group of Rebel Elves seeking aid to escape the rising threat posed by the Nos Clan.
Players will be brought into the elven city of Ailddinas, described in the roadmap as a landscape of towering crystalline spires fused with an expansive mystical forest that has been corrupted by the Nos Clan’s influence.
Crown of Night is billed as a continuation that expands on Ashenfall’s locales and focuses on efforts to halt the Nos Clan’s growing terror.
Beyond headline story releases, Jagex confirmed the roadmap includes ongoing quest and activity updates, quality-of-life improvements, skill additions and other gameplay refinements.
The studio directed players to the official Dragonwilds website for a detailed breakdown of release timing and feature specifics.
Nintendo Life has published both a written and video review of RuneScape: Dragonwilds for readers seeking further coverage of the game’s current state and design.
This roadmap frames 2027 as a structured year of episodic narrative content for Dragonwilds, with Luminance as the immediate update to prepare the player base for the multi-part Blood Crystal Saga and a steady stream of updates across the year.
