Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Gets Free Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar Crossover Update on Nintendo Switch

Marvelous, the renowned developer behind several beloved simulation and action titles, has officially announced a forthcoming free content update for Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma in collaboration with Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar.

This crossover event, revealed via a recent Marvelous press release, marks a significant moment for fans of both franchises on Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2, as it seeks to blend the worlds and gameplay elements of these celebrated Nintendo games. Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, launched recently for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, is an action RPG spin-off from the long-running Rune Factory series.

Differentiating itself from previous entries, Guardians of Azuma puts a stronger emphasis on action and combat systems rather than the farming mechanics that have been the hallmark of the franchise.

Players select from one of two main protagonists, both bound by enigmatic forces, as they use mystical relics to combat the pervasive Blight.

In addition to intense battles, the game offers villagers to rescue, seasonal Japanese-inspired locations to explore, and a reimagined approach to village management, allowing players to restore communities, build alliances, and cultivate resources. Meanwhile, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar is a comprehensive remake of the 2008 Nintendo DS classic, Harvest Moon DS: Grand Bazaar, revitalized for a modern audience on the Nintendo Switch family.

This new version features improved controls and quality-of-life enhancements, breathing new life into Zephyr Town.

Players are invited to fortify their farm, raise animals and crops, and sell goods at the bustling bazaar, all while nurturing friendships and romances within the warmly depicted community. In an official statement, Marvelous confirmed that details about the nature and scope of the update will be shared soon, promising it will be available in the near future.

This free downloadable content aims to offer experiences and items familiar to Story of Seasons fans within the action-packed setting of Guardians of Azuma.

Both Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar are currently available for purchase on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 via physical release and the Nintendo eShop.
