Sony Pictures partnered with Discord to host an immersive Resident Evil fan experience in San Diego the weekend of July 23–25, 2026, timed ahead of Zach Cregger’s forthcoming Resident Evil movie.

The pop-up ran at the Quartyard venue in 60-minute sessions and offered attendees interactive missions, code-based unlocks and limited-edition promotional merchandise, according to the event listing.

Access also included bar service with one complimentary drink.

The fan event was promoted on the official Resident Evil social channels on July 20, 2026.

The announcement described the activation as a chance to “step inside Raccoon City” with limited entry between July 23 and 25.

Ticketing information on the event page stated participants could complete missions, unlock codes and earn promotional merch and prizes during their session.

Tickets for the available time slots sold out rapidly, and organizers had not publicly confirmed additional sessions at the time of the event.

Zach Cregger, who directed horror films Barbarian and Weapons, is directing and co-writing this Resident Evil reboot with Shay Hatten.

The movie centers on a new protagonist, a medical courier named Bryan played by Austin Abrams, and follows his attempts to survive the Raccoon City outbreak.

The film is set for a theatrical release on September 18, 2026, and its credited cast includes Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser.

The Resident Evil property is developed and owned by Capcom and has seen multiple adaptations and ports across consoles over the series' history.

Capcom has previously supported Nintendo platforms with Resident Evil releases and uses digital storefronts like the Nintendo eShop to distribute titles and ports, reinforcing the franchise's presence across console ecosystems including the Nintendo Switch.

This San Diego activation is one of several promotional efforts surrounding the franchise in 2026.

Fans and industry observers will watch how the theatrical release on September 18 performs and how studio partnerships with platforms such as Discord and experiential events factor into the movie's wider marketing push.
