Capcom Expands Resident Evil Franchise With Nintendo Switch 2 Debut in February 2025 Capcom has officially confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem, the anticipated entry in the iconic survival horror series, is coming to Nintendo Switch 2.

Previously announced only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Resident Evil Requiem will now launch simultaneously across next-generation platforms, including the Nintendo Switch 2, on February 27, 2025. This announcement signals Capcom’s strengthened commitment to expanding the reach of its premier franchise.

In an official statement, Capcom representatives emphasized their intent to deliver the full Resident Evil experience to Nintendo fans on launch day, underscoring the cross-platform strategy that has defined recent franchise releases.

"Our goal is to bring our latest and most innovative horror adventures to even more players worldwide.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Resident Evil Requiem ensures that players on every major platform can enjoy the next chapter together on day one," the publisher stated. In addition to Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom also revealed that two landmark titles—Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village—are set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside the series' latest entry.

Both games are scheduled for release on February 27, 2025, leveraging the new hardware’s capabilities to provide an enhanced and seamless survival horror experience.

This marks the first time these recent Resident Evil games will be natively available on a Nintendo console, as previous versions were limited to cloud streaming solutions for the Nintendo Switch. The Resident Evil series, which has achieved over 100 million units in global sales since its debut in 1996, continues to be a cornerstone of Capcom’s portfolio.

Resident Evil 7 initially launched in January 2017 to critical acclaim and commercial success, helping to redefine the series with its intense first-person perspective.

Resident Evil Village followed in 2021, quickly earning various Game of the Year accolades and cementing its place as a standout next-generation horror title. Nintendo Switch 2 players will be able to access all three releases through both physical editions and digital downloads on the Nintendo eShop.

Full details on technical enhancements and platform-specific features are expected to be shared in an upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation. This coordinated release is poised to strengthen the Resident Evil footprint on Nintendo platforms, while highlighting Capcom’s adaptability in bringing leading-edge gaming experiences to new audiences.

With the February launch, the Nintendo Switch 2 cements itself as a key destination for fans of survival horror and blockbuster franchises alike.
