Stardew Valley Switch 2 Upgrade Now Live in Europe with Free Update for Original Owners

Stardew Valley Switch 2 Upgrade Launches in Europe with Free Upgrade for Existing Owners After a highly anticipated wait, European fans of Stardew Valley can now access the Switch 2 upgrade, with developer Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone confirming that the digital release is finally live across the region.

This marks an important milestone for the beloved indie farming simulation title, which continues to enjoy a vast player base and enduring popularity on the Nintendo Switch platform. The Switch 2 edition of Stardew Valley is available for £10.99 in the UK and €13.99 in Europe on the Nintendo eShop.

Importantly, players who previously purchased the game on the original Nintendo Switch (commonly referred to as Switch 1) are eligible for a completely free upgrade.

This consumer-friendly move ensures that long-time fans can seamlessly experience the game's enhancements without any additional cost. The delay in the European launch of the Switch 2 upgrade stemmed from the developer’s commitment to quality.

Prior to this release, Eric Barone—best known as ConcernedApe—explained that he was holding back the region’s rollout to address a significant crafting bug and to enhance mouse controls on the Switch 2 edition.

In a public update, Barone stated, "A patch is coming soon to fix the crafting bug and improve mouse controls on the Switch 2 version of Stardew Valley.

I decided to wait to release the European version until the patch was ready, since the crafting bug could result in players losing items." With the update now available, European players can take advantage of improved mouse controls on the Nintendo Switch 2, delivering a more streamlined and accessible gameplay experience.

The upgrade also brings major multiplayer enhancements, supporting four-player split-screen multiplayer as well as eight-player online play, significantly expanding cooperative possibilities.

In addition, the update introduces the GameShare feature, which enables users who may not own Stardew Valley on either Switch or Switch 2 to participate in shared gameplay sessions. Since its initial launch on the Nintendo Switch in October 2017, Stardew Valley has established itself as one of the most successful indie games on the platform, consistently ranking among the top downloads on the Nintendo eShop.

The continued support and innovation from ConcernedApe, coupled with thoughtful updates such as this free upgrade for existing owners, underscore the game's enduring legacy within the indie and Nintendo communities. Players interested in the Stardew Valley Switch 2 upgrade can download the update via the Nintendo eShop.

For those new to Stardew Valley, the title remains a standout farming sim experience, recognized for its deep simulation mechanics, charming pixel art, and robust multiplayer integration.
