Konami has released a free demo of Castlevania: Belmont's Curse on the Nintendo eShop, giving players an early hands-on window with the new 2D entry from Motion Twin and Evil Empire.

The demo, announced by Konami in recent weeks, precedes the game's full release scheduled for October 15 and includes the ability to carry save data forward into the retail version.

According to Konami, the demo covers the game's opening stages, allowing players to experience the early progression and core combat systems before launch.

Konami has also confirmed that any save files created during the demo will transfer directly to the complete release, so players will not need to replay those sections after purchasing the full game.

Notably for Switch owners, the demo appears to run at a steady 60 frames per second on Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.

That is a higher frame-rate presentation than Konami previously announced for the standard Nintendo Switch build, which had been listed as a locked 30fps on earlier platform details.

Konami has not announced a separate Switch 2 version, but the demo's performance on the newer hardware has been reported as smooth and consistent during hands-on sessions.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is a collaboration between Motion Twin — the developer behind Dead Cells — and co-developer Evil Empire, with Konami publishing.

Motion Twin and Evil Empire previously worked on a Dead Cells DLC titled "Return to Castlevania," which connected the teams to the Castlevania IP prior to this full-scale project.

The new title returns to 2D "vania" design conventions while leveraging Motion Twin's experience in tight, responsive action gameplay.

The demo availability gives players a direct preview on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 via the eShop, and is an opportunity for fans and critics to assess performance, controls, and early level design ahead of the October 15 launch.

Industry observers and players with access to Switch 2 hardware can verify the reported 60fps demo performance, while owners of the original Switch can try the demo knowing their progress will be retained after purchase.

For readers tracking release windows, platform performance, and developer lineage, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse represents a notable melding of a legacy franchise with studios recognized for modern action design.

The demo is now live on the Nintendo eShop ahead of the October 15 full release.
