In a recent interview with Pocket Tactics, members of porting studio Virtuos said they would like to bring Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 to the Nintendo Switch family of hardware.

Virtuos — a studio known for multi-platform support and console ports — discussed its work on the Switch version of L.A. Noire and expressed enthusiasm for adapting other large-scale Rockstar titles.

Technical director Andy Fong told Pocket Tactics that the team is “eager to adapt Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 for the Nintendo Switch,” adding that the studio’s developers are fans of those games and believe they could look strong on Nintendo hardware.

That comment underscores Virtuos’ confidence in its porting experience and optimization practices.

Relevant release milestones and platform history: Grand Theft Auto V originally launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17, 2013, and later appeared on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Red Dead Redemption 2 released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018.

The Nintendo Switch first shipped on March 3, 2017, and has been a target for numerous ports and remasters via physical releases and the Nintendo eShop.

Virtuos referenced its past Switch work during the interview, pointing to the studio’s role in bringing titles like L.A. Noire to Nintendo’s hybrid console.

L.A. Noire for Nintendo Switch was released in November 2017 and is often cited as an early example of a large-scale, cinematic console title successfully adapted for Switch hardware.

The studio also noted ongoing projects tied to the current generation of Nintendo hardware.

Virtuos’ public portfolio includes multiple porting and co-development credits across consoles and PC, and the company has repeatedly positioned itself as a technical partner for high-profile remasters and ports.

Any future ports of Grand Theft Auto V or Red Dead Redemption 2 to Nintendo Switch would depend on approvals and agreements with Rockstar Games and platform holders.

For now, the Pocket Tactics interview provides a clear signal that Virtuos is interested in pursuing such projects and believes its Switch experience positions it to undertake demanding console conversions.

Gaming journalists and Switch owners should watch for official announcements from Rockstar Games or platform holders for confirmation.
