The Pokémon Company has officially unveiled PokéPark Kanto, the franchise’s first permanent outdoor Pokémon attraction, during the latest Pokémon Presents presentation.
Scheduled to open in 2026, PokéPark Kanto will occupy approximately 26,000 square meters—about six and a half acres—inside the popular Yomiuriland amusement park in Tokyo, offering fans an immersive Pokémon experience on an unprecedented scale.
PokéPark Kanto is designed with two major themed areas: Sedge Town and Pokémon Forest, each brimming with interactive features and family-friendly attractions.
According to the announcement, Sedge Town will feature meticulously recreated series staples, including a Poké Mart, Pokémon Center, Trainers’ Market, and a dedicated Sedge Town Gym.
Visitors can expect vibrant shopfronts, character encounters, and a lively parade that brings the world of Pokémon to life.
At the heart of Sedge Town, a fountain honoring Primarina, the Water-type starter from Generation VII, serves as a picturesque centerpiece.
Among the highlights are two carousel attractions: a classic merry-go-round and a unique Pikachu-themed ride reminiscent of Disneyland’s iconic Dumbo attraction, inviting guests to soar above the park on the back of a giant Pikachu.
The second zone, Pokémon Forest, offers an immersive, nature-inspired adventure stretching 500 meters in length.
More than 600 different Pokémon can be spotted throughout this expansive woodland setting, designed to evoke a sense of discovery as fans traverse diverse terrains.
With Pokémon lurking in clever hiding spots—from underground burrows to high branches—visitors are encouraged to keep their eyes peeled for their favorite characters throughout their exploration.
The grand opening of PokéPark Kanto is slated for early 2026, with ticket sales set to commence later in 2025.
The Pokémon Company emphasized that the park aims to create a lasting space where fans of all generations can celebrate the beloved franchise in a dynamic, real-world environment.
This landmark project builds on Nintendo’s ongoing commitment to expanding Pokémon’s global presence beyond video games and into captivating live experiences.
In a statement summarized for clarity, a spokesperson for The Pokémon Company expressed excitement about introducing fans to “a unique adventure in the real world where they can connect with Pokémon in meaningful new ways.”
PokéPark Kanto’s introduction marks a significant milestone in the franchise’s evolution, following in the footsteps of previous pop-up and seasonal Pokémon attractions, and is poised to become a key destination for enthusiasts traveling to Tokyo.
As anticipation builds around its 2026 debut, fans worldwide eagerly await further updates on the eShop, Nintendo Switch services, and related events tied to this innovative Pokémon park.
