Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC Announced for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2

Pokémon Legends: Z-A continues to build on its early success with a major new content update.

The "Mega Dimension" DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A is officially set to launch on December 10, 2025, for both Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2, according to an announcement from developer Game Freak.

Priced at $30 USD, this expansion promises to bring a wealth of new features to the fan-favorite open-world RPG, expanding Lumiose City into a remarkable hyperspace zone and introducing coveted Mega Evolutions. Set in an innovative alternate dimension, Mega Dimension allows players to explore a hyperspace variant of Lumiose City, where it's possible to catch Pokémon species otherwise unavailable in the base game.

Among the highlights of the DLC are the debut of two long-anticipated Mega Evolutions for Raichu, as well as new Mega forms for Chimecho and Baxcaliber, all revealed in the latest trailer.

Game Freak has confirmed that additional Mega Evolutions are also planned for inclusion, enriching the gameplay with fresh tactical options. A standout addition to Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC is the ability for players to temporarily level up their Pokémon beyond level 100 while within the hyperspace environment.

This unprecedented feature, a first for the mainline Pokémon series, is accessible with assistance from a new character named Ansha.

Ansha provides trainers with special donuts and mystical treats, enabling their Pokémon to exceed the traditional level cap and present new challenges in battle.

While the exact mechanics of re-activating over-leveling upon re-entry into the hyperspace remain to be fully detailed, this feature signals a bold innovation for long-standing fans of the franchise. In tandem with the DLC announcement, Game Freak has rolled out a new Mystery Gift and an additional side mission available to all players starting November 6, 2025.

The Mystery Gift distributes a Diancite stone, which enables Diancie to Mega Evolve into Mega Diancie without requiring the Mega Dimension DLC.

Additionally, the seasonal side quest “Shine Bright like a Gemstone” goes live on the same date, enriching the in-game event roster.

Pre-ordering the Mega Dimension DLC unlocks exclusive cosmetic content, including the Holo-X and Holo-Y in-game outfits.

Furthermore, Season Four of Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s online ranked battles will provide the mega stone required to unlock Mega Baxcaliber, expanding competitive options for online battlers. Pokémon Legends: Z-A has already proved a commercial success, recording 5.8 million units sold during its opening weekend.
