Description

Terarin Games, a well-regarded Japanese indie developer known for titles such as Missile Dancer, Crystal Breaker, and Terra Flame, has unveiled the first playable demo of their upcoming shoot ‘em up, Blaze of Storm, on Steam.

The anticipated vertical scrolling shooter is also slated for release on Nintendo Switch, further expanding the studio’s presence on leading gaming platforms. Blaze of Storm immerses players in a futuristic narrative set in the 794th year of the Cyber Century.

In this world, a massive supercomputer dubbed "Elixia" governs global politics, economics, and military operations, ushering in an era devoid of war and poverty.

This fragile peace is abruptly disrupted when a mysterious organization led by a shadowy figure known as "Phantom" launches an assault in cyberspace.

By infiltrating and corrupting Elixia, these antagonists bring chaos back to society.

Tasked with confronting this threat is Ayame Crow, a specialized cyberspace operative, who must dive into the digital realm and eradicate the invaders from within. Gameplay in Blaze of Storm stays true to classic shoot ‘em up mechanics, offering players an arsenal that includes a forward-firing Vulcan shot and a suite of interchangeable subweapons.

Throughout each stage, pilots can acquire upgrades such as homing missiles, defensive satellites that orbit the player’s ship, and potent napalm explosives.

These weapon options provide tactical diversity familiar to fans of the genre, ensuring high replay value and intense challenge. Terarin Games announced that the currently available demo, launched on Thursday, May 22, features only the Caravan Mode—a time-limited scoring challenge popular among arcade enthusiasts.

The full release, scheduled for Winter, will offer complete gameplay across multiple modes and is set to launch on both Steam and the Nintendo Switch eShop.

By supporting seven languages—English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese—Blaze of Storm is positioned to reach a worldwide audience upon launch. Terarin Games continues to build on its legacy of delivering retro-inspired shooters to a global market, and Blaze of Storm’s arrival on both Steam and Nintendo Switch marks a significant step for the studio.

With a demo now available for download, genre fans and newcomers alike can experience a preview of the action ahead of the full release.

For those interested, Blaze of Storm can be added to wishlists on Steam today.
