Pilotwings originally launched on the Super Nintendo in 1990, and its successor, Pilotwings 64, debuted on the Nintendo 64 in 1996; both franchises remain part of Nintendo’s retro catalog and are supported through the console’s online legacy features.
What’s live now: Nintendo Switch Online members can pick up seven different icons for the original Pilotwings and five icons for Pilotwings 64.
Each icon costs 10 My Nintendo Platinum Points.
These items are being offered as "play to unlock" rewards, which require players to run the corresponding classic title through Nintendo’s emulator apps on Switch.
Rewritten statement from Nintendo’s announcement: The Pilotwings and Pilotwings 64 icon sets will remain available throughout the month, with seven icons for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version and five for the Nintendo 64 installment.
Each icon is priced at 10 Platinum Points on My Nintendo.
To claim them, players must start the original Pilotwings via the Super Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Classics app and boot Pilotwings 64 using the Nintendo 64 application.
Accessing the Pilotwings 64 icons requires an active Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack membership.
Availability and timeline: The Pilotwings and Pilotwings 64 icons are scheduled to stay on the My Nintendo rewards catalog until October 5, 2026, at which point Nintendo will rotate in new titles and rewards.
Because these icons are tied to the Nintendo Classics apps, players must have access to the appropriate emulation application on Switch and, for N64 content, the Expansion Pack tier of Nintendo Switch Online.
Where to find more: Members interested in other Switch Online updates and rotating rewards should check Nintendo’s official news channels and the Nintendo Switch Online section of the eShop.
The My Nintendo rewards page lists current Platinum Point items, redemption costs, and step-by-step guidance for play-to-unlock content.
This rollout continues Nintendo’s pattern of using the Switch Online service and My Nintendo program to highlight legacy franchises while offering small, collectible digital rewards to members.
