Nintendo has launched a series of My Nintendo avatar icons tied to Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, continuing the company’s recent habit of offering themed Switch Online cosmetic rewards.
Nintendo Switch Sports originally released for Nintendo Switch on April 29, 2022, and the franchise’s ongoing support now includes additional avatar designs and backgrounds for players to use with their Nintendo Switch Online profiles.
According to Nintendo’s listing, new icon designs for Nintendo Switch Sports Resort are available for redemption on My Nintendo.
Character icons are priced at 10 Platinum Points apiece, while backgrounds and frame designs cost 5 Platinum Points each.
Nintendo emphasizes that, once claimed, these icons remain permanently attached to a user’s Nintendo Account: they will not be removed even if a Nintendo Switch Online membership lapses.
Rewritten statement for clarity: Nintendo says it will distribute new Nintendo Switch Sports Resort icons on a weekly schedule, with releases appearing every Wednesday (Thursday in Europe).
The program is scheduled to continue on a weekly basis through November 18, 2026.
Players can redeem these items through the My Nintendo rewards site using Platinum Points earned from My Nintendo activities and qualifying purchases.
Platinum Points are the non-monetary reward currency in the My Nintendo program and are commonly earned through eShop purchases, Nesting of account activities, and special promotions; they are distinct from Gold Points, which apply toward digital purchases on the Nintendo eShop.
This rollout follows Nintendo’s established approach of tying Switch Online cosmetic offerings to prominent first-party releases and seasonal campaigns.
For context, Nintendo Switch Sports revived the motion-controlled sports concept popularized by Wii Sports, and Nintendo has continued to support the title through updates and additional content since its 2022 launch.
Nintendo will update the icon lineup each week; coverage and a running list of new releases will be maintained for players who want to track each drop.
