Nintendo Switch Online has added new classic avatar icons for Mach Rider and Excitebike 64, letting members personalize their Switch profiles with imagery from two of Nintendo’s historic racing titles.
Mach Rider first launched in 1985 for Nintendo’s family hardware (NES/Famicom), while Excitebike 64, developed by Left Field Productions and published by Nintendo, debuted on the Nintendo 64 in 2000.
These icons join the service’s ongoing rotation of retro rewards that tie into the Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscription tiers.
Both Mach Rider and Excitebike 64 each offer five different icons.
All ten icons are available to purchase in the My Nintendo rewards store for 10 Platinum Points apiece.
Mach Rider icons are accessible to all Nintendo Switch Online members via the standard service, but the Excitebike 64 icons require access to the Nintendo 64 application on Switch, which is reserved for Nintendo Switch Online members who subscribe to the Expansion Pack tier.
To unlock each icon you must play the corresponding game at least once.
In practical terms, this simply means launching the game’s app on your Switch console one time; a brief boot is sufficient to register play and make the related icon redeemable through My Nintendo.
Icons for both titles will remain available in the rewards rotation until June 1, 2026, when Nintendo has indicated new games and items will replace them.
These additions continue Nintendo’s broader strategy of supporting its legacy catalog on the Nintendo Switch platform.
The Nintendo 64 app arrived on Nintendo Switch Online with Expansion Pack in October 2021, expanding the company’s retro lineup beyond NES and SNES libraries.
Separately, My Nintendo’s Platinum Points system has long been used to exchange engagement and sign-in rewards for digital items like themes, icons, and discounts tied to Nintendo’s eShop ecosystem.
How to get them: ensure you are subscribed to the appropriate Nintendo Switch Online tier (Expansion Pack for N64 titles), boot Mach Rider or Excitebike 64 at least once, then spend 10 Platinum Points per icon on My Nintendo.
The limited availability window ends June 1, 2026, after which Nintendo will rotate in new rewards.
