Nintendo Switch Online Launches Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush Icon Set

Nintendo continues to expand its Nintendo Switch Online user benefits with the introduction of a new icon set themed around Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush.

This latest collection, available exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, highlights characters and elements from the recent Donkey Kong Bananza downloadable content (DLC), offering fans a fresh way to customize their profiles on the Nintendo Switch platform. Beginning this week, subscribers can use their Platinum Points—earned through My Nintendo missions—to redeem a variety of unique icon designs.

This first wave of the Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush icons will be accessible until September 25, with additional icons released every Thursday in North America (Fridays in Europe) up until October 9 at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET.

Each drop includes a rotating assortment of characters and customizations, such as Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and Pauline.

Icon elements previously featured in Donkey Kong Bananza releases are also making a return, providing both longtime and new fans with an expanded suite of collectible avatar options. Pricing for these digital customizations remains in line with past icon sets, where individual character icons can be redeemed for 10 Platinum Points each.

Backgrounds and frames, allowing further personalization, are available for 5 Platinum Points apiece.

This approach incentivizes players to engage more fully with My Nintendo’s ecosystem of missions and rewards. A Nintendo representative shared that each week’s release is curated to highlight fan-favorite characters and themes from Donkey Kong Bananza’s DK Island & Emerald Rush content, ensuring continuity and excitement for the community.

These regular icon updates showcase Nintendo’s ongoing commitment to adding value to its Switch Online service and maintaining high user engagement. In addition to the Donkey Kong update, Nintendo recently confirmed that Klonoa Empire of Dreams and Mr.

Driller 2 are slated to join the Nintendo Switch Online service, expanding the catalogue of classic titles available for play and reinforcing the platform’s appeal to a broad range of nostalgia-driven gamers. The new Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush icons can be accessed via the Nintendo Switch Online app on the Switch console.
