A new online leak suggests a LEGO set based on Nintendo's 1981 arcade classic Donkey Kong may be coming, surfacing as the franchise reaches its 45th anniversary in 2026.

Donkey Kong, created by Shigeru Miyamoto and first released by Nintendo in arcades in 1981, is one of the company’s earliest and most influential platformers and has appeared across Nintendo platforms in the decades since.

The leak originated on the Legoleak subreddit and was flagged publicly by a user post credited to CarterBricks04 and shared under u/Gupytex, with coverage picked up by outlets including VGC.

According to the Reddit post — which has not been confirmed by LEGO or Nintendo — the alleged set would contain 1,367 pieces and adopt an arcade cabinet-style presentation that allows builders to recreate the single-screen platforming action of the original Donkey Kong arcade game.

Paraphrasing the leaked details in journalistic terms: the post claims the proposed set would include pixel-art brick representations of Mario, Donkey Kong and Pauline, and incorporate elements such as ladders, girders and stackable platforms that echo the source material.

The leak also alleges an August release window and a retail price of approximately $200, details that remain unverified by either rights holder.

It is factual that LEGO and Nintendo have collaborated before: the LEGO Super Mario partnership, launched in 2020, combined LEGO construction with interactive elements built around Nintendo IP.

Beyond that confirmed history, neither LEGO nor Nintendo have issued an official announcement about a Donkey Kong set at the time of writing.

Given the unconfirmed nature of the images and specifications circulating online, industry watchers and collectors should treat the reported piece count, price and release timing as claims rather than confirmed facts until a formal announcement is made.

For now, the leak is notable for its timing as Donkey Kong reaches a major anniversary and for spotlighting ongoing interest in physical merchandise tied to classic Nintendo properties.

We will update this report when LEGO or Nintendo make an official statement.

In the interim, interested readers can follow official LEGO channels, Nintendo’s press releases and major outlets such as VGC for confirmation and launch details.
