The change affects the Nintendo Switch OLED model, the original Nintendo Switch, and the Nintendo Switch Lite, and will take effect for parts arriving at Nintendo warehouses on March 26, 2025.
According to the company announcement, the exact fee depends on the repair type.
Nintendo provided examples of specific price changes: OLED display repairs will increase from 11,000 yen to 12,100 yen, and Joy-Con related repairs will rise from 2,200 yen to 2,860 yen.
Nintendo also noted that a subset of repair prices will remain the same; the dock and the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller are not affected by this adjustment.
Paraphrasing Nintendo's statement, the company explained that the adjustments are necessary because replacement parts have become more expensive, and the new pricing will apply to components received into Nintendo's supply chain on or after March 26, 2025.
At present, Nintendo has not announced parallel changes for regions outside Japan.
Context for owners and industry watchers
The Nintendo Switch family launched on March 3, 2017, and has since expanded with the Nintendo Switch Lite released on September 20, 2019, and the Nintendo Switch OLED model on October 8, 2021.
Nintendo operates official repair and warranty services through its service centers and website; these official repair prices apply when using Nintendo-authorized repair channels rather than third-party technicians or local repair shops.
What this means for consumers and retailers
For Japanese consumers, the adjustment directly affects out-of-warranty repairs and instances where Nintendo is the chosen repair provider.
Retailers, repair centers, and players monitoring Nintendo Direct or the Nintendo eShop for broader ecosystem updates should note that this announcement is specific to Japan until Nintendo provides further details for other markets.
Nintendo has issued the update through its official channels in Japan.
We will report further if Nintendo extends the pricing changes to additional regions or provides more detailed pricing tables for specific repair categories.
