Developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo, this acclaimed title now takes advantage of the upgraded hardware offered by the Nintendo Switch 2, providing both technical enhancements to the main game and introducing the highly anticipated Star-Crossed World campaign. The initial launch of Kirby and the Forgotten Land was met with critical acclaim and impressive sales milestones on the Nintendo Switch, quickly becoming one of the franchise’s standout 3D adventures.

As of its latest release, the new Switch 2 Edition delivers improved visuals, faster load times, and advanced gameplay features made possible by the increased capabilities of Nintendo’s latest console. Kei Ninomiya, a producer at Nintendo, recently discussed the transition and expansion of Kirby and the Forgotten Land in a feature with Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream.

According to Ninomiya, the development team had always envisioned expanding the game's universe, but technical constraints during the initial release proved limiting.

"We had considered expanding the world even further, but didn’t have the means to realize that vision until the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2," Ninomiya explained.

"Once the opportunity with the new console arose, we were excited to leverage its capabilities, enabling us to deliver a more expansive and engaging experience for players.

From that moment, our team worked swiftly to ensure Kirby could make his debut on Switch 2 as soon as possible." The introduction of the Star-Crossed World campaign adds substantial new content, allowing players to explore brand-new environments and encounter fresh challenges.

This additional campaign builds on the platforming excellence of the original while showcasing the graphical and performance improvements unique to the Switch 2. Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, including the Star-Crossed World campaign, is now available for purchase via the Nintendo eShop and at retail.

The updated title underscores Nintendo’s ongoing commitment to refreshing its beloved franchises while making full use of the latest hardware innovations.
