Nintendo continues to enrich its Nintendo Switch Online retro games library, officially adding four iconic Super Nintendo titles for subscribers worldwide.
As of March 28, 2025, active Switch Online members can now access Nobunaga's Ambition, Nobunaga's Ambition: Lord of Darkness, Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire, and Uncharted Waters: New Horizons directly through the service.
This latest wave of releases reaffirms Nintendo's ongoing commitment to celebrating the legacy of classic gaming on modern hardware.
The newly added titles, renowned for their deep strategy, role-playing, and historical simulation elements, are now available via the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) application as part of a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
Each game offers unique gameplay experiences:
- Nobunaga's Ambition and Nobunaga's Ambition: Lord of Darkness are both celebrated for their challenging strategy mechanics centered around feudal Japan, crafted by the acclaimed developer Koei.
- Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire stands out as an influential turn-based strategy game set during China’s tumultuous Three Kingdoms era.
- Uncharted Waters: New Horizons opens the world of seafaring adventure and exploration, offering RPG fans an expansive narrative set during the Age of Discovery.
Nintendo has reiterated its dedication to providing value for Switch Online members, highlighting these additions as part of its ongoing efforts.
In an official announcement, the company encouraged fans: "If you have ambitions to build a kingdom or explore new frontiers, this new lineup is tailored for you, with all four classic adventures making their way to Super Nintendo – Nintendo Switch Online on March 28."
This update follows recent enhancements to the Switch Online library, including Game Boy titles like Donkey Kong and Mario's Picross earlier in the month.
The continual expansion of the retro offerings demonstrates Nintendo’s strategy to appeal both to nostalgic fans and to newer audiences interested in exploring gaming history.
It’s worth noting that alongside these fresh arrivals, Nintendo has removed Super Soccer from the service effective March 27, 2025 (or March 28, depending on region).
As always, access to these classic games requires an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription, available via the Nintendo eShop.
With these latest Super Nintendo additions, Nintendo Switch Online solidifies its reputation as a comprehensive platform for revisiting genre-defining classics and experiencing the heritage of gaming’s golden eras.
