Nintendo has announced a significant expansion of its digital ecosystem with the upcoming official launch of the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online services in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Starting November 18, 2025, players in these Southeast Asian countries will be able to access the Nintendo eShop directly from their region and subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online service without relying on international accounts.
Previously, gamers in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand had to create accounts set to North American or European regions in order to access Switch Online multiplayer features and purchase games digitally from the eShop.
This workaround often led to complications with payment, localization, and support services.
The long-overdue move to localize these core services signals Nintendo’s commitment to enhancing the experience for its growing Southeast Asian user base.
In an official statement, Nintendo emphasized their dedication to providing a seamless and accessible gaming platform for everyone.
"Expanding our eShop and Switch Online services to more regions reflects our ongoing commitment to support Nintendo Switch players around the world," a spokesperson from Nintendo shared.
The company underlined that these services will launch with local payment options, regional customer support, and curated promotions tailored for each market.
The Nintendo eShop offers a digital storefront for purchasing and downloading a massive library of Nintendo Switch titles, classic games, and downloadable content.
Nintendo Switch Online, meanwhile, gives players access to multiplayer features, cloud saves, and a vault of classic NES and Super NES games.
With these additions, gamers in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand will enjoy the same convenience and robust offering as those in other supported regions.
Nintendo has further confirmed active plans to roll out these services in the Philippines, expanding their digital infrastructure to even more territories in Southeast Asia.
While an exact launch date for the Philippines has not yet been disclosed, this ongoing regional expansion underscores Nintendo’s global strategy to make its platforms more widely accessible.
This announcement follows a year of impressive momentum for the Nintendo Switch, which reached over 139 million units sold worldwide as of early 2024.
Nintendo’s strategic investments in digital services are widely viewed as a key factor in boosting both hardware and software engagement across emerging markets.
Players in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand have long awaited easier access to the Nintendo Switch ecosystem.
The arrival of local eShop and Switch Online services—inclusive of regional customer support and payment options—signals a new era for Nintendo fans in Southeast Asia.
For further details on launch specifics, users are advised to follow official Nintendo channels and regional communications.
