The Switch 2 edition launches timed with the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion and includes all free title update content released to date.
Capcom made the announcement through a press release and an appearance during the Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 9, 2026.
Release details and editions
Monster Hunter Wilds for Nintendo Switch 2 will be available in multiple editions at launch.
The Standard Edition is priced at $39.99, while the Gold Edition sells for $79.99 and bundles the base game with an expanded selection of cosmetic DLC.
A physical Monster Hunter Wilds Deluxe Edition, which includes the base game and the Deluxe Pack cosmetics, will also be available for $39.99.

Online and local play
The Switch 2 version will support cross-play across platforms and local co-op, enabling Hunters to team up both online and in person from day one.
Capcom has stated the Ascendance expansion will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 alongside other platforms, and the company has confirmed a demo for Wilds will be released before the Switch 2 launch, though the demo’s specific window has not been announced.
Game synopsis and developer notes
Capcom frames Monster Hunter Wilds as an expedition-driven entry: Hunters on the Expedition Team journey into the Forbidden Lands in pursuit of a mysterious entity dubbed the "White Wraith." Players can wield 14 weapon types against large monsters and gather materials to craft increasingly powerful gear.
The series’ hallmark—strategic, high-stakes hunts against evolving monsters—remains central to Wilds’ design, according to Capcom.
What this means for Switch 2 owners
For Nintendo Switch 2 owners and Monster Hunter fans, the December 4 release delivers a version of Wilds that consolidates post-launch updates and expands accessibility through cross-play and local co-op.
With multiple purchasing options and a pre-order window that offers a short-term discount, Capcom is positioning the Switch 2 launch to reach both newcomers and long-time Hunters.
