Monster Hunter Wilds demo arrives ahead of Nintendo Switch 2 launch — Capcom readies December 4, 2026 release

Capcom releases Monster Hunter Wilds prologue demo ahead of Nintendo Switch 2 launch

Capcom has released a prologue demo for Monster Hunter Wilds on Nintendo Switch 2 in advance of the game's scheduled launch on December 4, 2026.

The demo reproduces the full opening segment of the title, allowing players to experience character creation, early narrative beats, and a multiplayer sampling via local wireless play.

Capcom positioned the demo as a way for players to familiarize themselves with the game's systems before the full release.

What the demo includes

The prologue demo contains the full opening sequence of Monster Hunter Wilds, including the game's character creator.

Players can build a custom Hunter and a Palico partner to take into the Windward Plains, the first explorable area featured in the demo.

The demo is offline only for online services but supports local wireless play so multiple Switch 2 systems can form a party for shared multiplayer testing.

Capcom confirmed that progress made in the demo will carry over to the retail version of the game.

Pre-order incentives and pricing

Capcom outlined pre-order bonuses tied to early purchases.

Players who pre-order Monster Hunter Wilds will receive the Guild Knight Set layered armor and the Hope Charm Talisman as digital bonuses.

Capcom also announced a $29.99 early adopters discount for qualifying purchasers.

For physical buyers, the company listed a manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) of $39.99 for the boxed edition.

Release and platform details

Monster Hunter Wilds is slated to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026.

The prologue demo provides hands-on access to the opening content and character tools ahead of that date and is intended to help players evaluate the game and transfer their demo progress to the final release.
