Description

Nintendo has officially announced a delay for the eagerly anticipated wider rollout of Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo for users who are not subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online.

The quirky digital alarm clock, which debuted on October 9, 2024, had initially been set to drop its Switch Online exclusivity in January 2025.

However, Nintendo has now confirmed that non-NSO members will have to wait until early March 2025 to gain access, extending the wait by nearly two months beyond the original schedule. According to the updated release plan, UK and Ireland customers looking to purchase Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo outside of Nintendo Switch Online will find it available exclusively via the My Nintendo Store website.

In contrast, customers across Europe can expect a more varied distribution, with select physical retailers also stocking the item in addition to online channels.

Nintendo has not released an official statement explaining the cause of this delay.

However, Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo has enjoyed rapid success and high demand since its launch, suggesting that distribution challenges may be a factor in the extended rollout period. Alarmo stands out not just for its functionality, but also for its rich integration of popular Nintendo franchises.

At launch, the sound clock featured alarm themes from some of the Nintendo Switch’s flagship games, such as Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4, and Ring Fit Adventure.

Nintendo has continued its support for the product post-launch, rolling out updates that include additional alarms drawn from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, further expanding the musical variety Nintendophiles can enjoy. This staggered introduction comes at a time of heightened anticipation within the Nintendo community, as industry watchers anticipate further details regarding Nintendo’s next hardware platform, colloquially referred to as the 'Switch successor.' While some have speculated about a potential connection between new hardware announcements and Alarmo’s release timeline, current evidence and Nintendo’s public statements do not support a direct link.

The delay appears most closely tied to the overwhelming popularity of the product and the logistics of meeting consumer demand across multiple markets. Since its launch, Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo has become a sought-after piece for both collectors and everyday Nintendo Switch users eager to bring a playful touch of Nintendo magic to their daily routines.

With the open sales date now set for March 2025 for non-Nintendo Switch Online members, fans across Europe and especially in the UK and Ireland will want to keep a close eye on My Nintendo Store and select retailers to secure their copy of this unique Nintendo accessory.
