The showcase confirmed Pikmin Day on Nov. 1 and provided a deeper look at Pikmin 4 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, the Pikmin Bloom smartphone app update, and a new short-movie series produced by Nintendo Pictures titled 'Hello!
Pikmin'.
The headline: Pikmin 4 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on Nov. 12.
Nintendo also announced a free demo will be available on Nintendo eShop the same day the Direct aired, featuring the Sun-Speckled Terrace opening area from the main story plus two stages from Dandori Academy.
Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Pikmin, opened the presentation by explaining the choice of Nov. 1 for Pikmin Day, noting that the date '11.1' visually evokes the original three Red, Blue and Yellow Pikmin standing in a line.
Miyamoto also introduced new features for the Switch 2 edition, including voice control for the Rescue Pup Oatchi: the built-in Nintendo Switch 2 microphone will recognize nine distinct voice commands to direct the companion.
Dandori Academy is billed as a core addition to the Switch 2 edition.
Players can hone planning and treasure-collection skills in timed challenges, practicing efficiency in each stage and attempting exams held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday to earn in-game medals.
Nintendo released a new trailer during the Direct and has made a Nintendo Treehouse: Plays video available demonstrating Dandori Academy gameplay.
On mobile, Pikmin Bloom will receive a winter update that adds a new adventure featuring Secret Caves.
Access to the caves requires cave maps that can be obtained through postcards found by Pikmin in the app; players will be able to send groups of Pikmin into caves to explore and battle.
Nintendo confirmed a linkage between Pikmin Bloom and Pikmin 4 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy so players can transfer exam results from the Switch 2 game to Pikmin Bloom for special in-app rewards, including a cave map.
The Pikmin Bloom app notes that it is free to start with optional in-app purchases and requires a compatible smartphone and persistent internet.
