Description

Nintendo is set to increase the prices of its entire Nintendo Switch hardware lineup in the United States, effective August 3, 2025.

The adjustment, which was officially announced by the company, will impact the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, as well as a selection of Nintendo Switch accessories. This development follows a similar move made in Canada at the end of June, positioning the United States as the second major region to see a price hike for existing Switch hardware.

These changes come as Nintendo continues to assess global market conditions and adjust its pricing structure accordingly. In addition to the core Switch consoles, Nintendo has confirmed that certain other products will also be subject to price changes.

This includes specific Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, selected figures from the popular amiibo line, and the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo.

However, the company has clarified that the price increase will not affect the Nintendo Switch 2 system itself, nor will it impact physical or digital game titles for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 platforms.

Online memberships for Nintendo Switch Online will also remain at their current prices for the time being. A representative for Nintendo stated, 'Other product categories—including select accessories for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, as well as certain amiibo and the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo—will also have adjusted pricing.

However, current and future system, software, and membership pricing will remain unchanged at this time, though adjustments may be evaluated going forward.' The announcement comes on the heels of similar adjustments made in mid-April 2025, when Nintendo revised pricing for several Switch 2 accessories in response to changing tariff regulations. Nintendo Switch hardware has enjoyed widespread success since its initial launch in 2017, with the platform selling over 139 million units worldwide as of the latest quarterly report.

The OLED model and Lite version have both contributed to extending the lifecycle of Switch hardware, providing options tailored to diverse gaming preferences and budgets.

With this pending price adjustment, Nintendo continues to navigate market shifts as it prepares for the eventual introduction of the Nintendo Switch 2. Gamers and industry analysts alike will be closely monitoring the impact of these changes on the broader North American market.

As always, Nintendo urges customers to visit the official Nintendo Direct streams and the Nintendo eShop for the most up-to-date information regarding hardware and accessory pricing.

Any additional price announcements for other regions will be shared as they are confirmed.

For now, some hardware and accessory costs are set to rise in August 2025, marking a significant update for Switch owners and fans throughout the United States.
