Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, the latest pixel art spin-off in the legendary Ninja Gaiden franchise, is set to launch soon, bringing renewed excitement to a series that has recently enjoyed a resurgence.
Developed in partnership between Dotemu and The Game Kitchen, the fast-paced action title will make its debut across multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, with publisher Dotemu steering the release.
Ahead of the game's highly anticipated launch, Dotemu announced today that Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound will run at an average of 30 frames per second (FPS) on the original Nintendo Switch when it hits the eShop.
In contrast, other platforms will deliver a more fluid experience at a steady 60 FPS.
While this frame rate difference may disappoint some Switch users, it aligns with performance trends seen for many contemporary titles on Nintendo's aging hybrid hardware.
"Players on the Nintendo Switch can expect the game to run at an average 30 FPS at launch," said a representative from Dotemu, noting that this is a common target given the system's technical limitations.
However, the publisher emphasized that the upcoming next-generation hardware—widely referred to as the Nintendo Switch 2—will offer a significantly improved experience.
Dotemu stated that Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound "will benefit from the console's specs" when played on Switch 2, enabling performance enhancements well beyond what is possible on the current system.
Specifics on frame rate or graphics upgrades for Switch 2 were not disclosed at this time.
In addition to performance disclosure, Dotemu shared that details for upcoming post-launch updates will be announced soon.
These updates could include performance optimizations, additional content, or stability improvements, particularly for players transitioning to the new hardware iteration.
This news arrives as anticipation builds for both the flagship release of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound and the impending reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2.
Both Dotemu and The Game Kitchen have established themselves with critically acclaimed projects—Dotemu notably revitalized classic franchises with titles like Streets of Rage 4, while The Game Kitchen drew attention for their work on Blasphemous.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound releases in two days and will be available digitally on the Nintendo Switch eShop, as well as other major gaming platforms.
Stay tuned for more information regarding performance updates and enhancements for the Nintendo Switch 2 as Dotemu provides further clarity post-launch.
