Hobonichi's 'Mother's Summer' lineup celebrates Mother 3's 20th anniversary with a fresh range of officially curated merchandise from the Hobonichi Mother Project, the merch brand run by series creator Shigesato Itoi.

Mother 3 was released in Japan for the Game Boy Advance on April 20, 2006; the 2026 collection was announced in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) and is set to appear at a physical booth before landing on the Hobonichi web store.

New apparel and practical items

Hobonichi detailed a summer-focused clothing range that includes a New Era collaboration baseball cap offered in purple and beige, and two t-shirt designs.

One shirt is a white tee featuring the Mother logo; the other is a blue shirt with an embroidered Ninten on the chest and printed lyrics from the song 'Pollyanna' on the back.

Hobonichi described the tees as made from a new quick-drying material offering durability, moisture-wicking performance, antibacterial and deodorizing properties, and UV protection to suit hot-weather use.

The line also includes branded Nalgene water bottles and a white umbrella carrying the Mother logo.

Hobonichi said the umbrella fabric uses Toray’s Summer Shield material, claiming a 64% heat-blocking rate and UV-cut/shading performance above 99%, positioning it as a sun-and-rain option optimized for summer heat.

A Converse collaboration is part of the drop as well: a yellow All Star next-generation model printed with Lucas, Claus, and Boney designs.

Magnet mascots and franchise merchandise

To mark the Mother 3 milestone, Hobonichi is expanding its magnet mascot series with new characters that adhere to metal surfaces: Kumatora, Duster, Boney, a Clayman, Save Frog, an Osohe Ghost, and Mr. Saturn.

The broader Mother/EarthBound lineup announced by Hobonichi also includes larger weatherproof stickers, a Tenda plush, and enemy keychains featuring the Starman, Ramblin' Evil Mushroom, Dept.

Store Spook, and a Bear.

Availability and event details

Hobonichi confirmed the Mother's Summer collection will be available at a booth at the Life's Enjoyment Exhibition (a.k.a.

Life's Enjoyment Exhibition) in the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building Triangle Plaza from June 1–7, 2026, with online sales on the Hobonichi web store to follow.

Prices and full release schedules have not been announced.

Context for fans

The Hobonichi Mother Project operates under the guidance of Shigesato Itoi and has issued regular merchandise drops celebrating the Mother series' enduring legacy.

While Mother 3 remains a Japan-only release from 2006 and an official English localization has not been produced by Nintendo, demand for franchise merchandise has remained strong, and this summer drop offers multiple practical and collectible items for fans and collectors.
