Mother 3 Plushies Sell Out After Nintendo Switch Online Japan Launch Following the highly anticipated release of Mother 3 on Nintendo Switch Online in Japan, fans of the beloved series are celebrating with exclusive new merchandise: a set of four Mother 3 character plushies.

Announced by the Mother Project to commemorate the game’s digital arrival, these plush toys — featuring Lucas, Claus, Kumatora, and Duster — have already created a sensation among collectors and longtime fans of the franchise. Mother 3, developed by Nintendo and Brownie Brown, is the critically acclaimed sequel to EarthBound (Mother 2).

Since its original release for the Game Boy Advance in 2006, the game has maintained a loyal following, but it was only this year that Nintendo made it accessible on the Nintendo Switch Online service (Japan only, as of this writing).

To celebrate, the Mother Project unveiled a collector’s lineup of plushies, officially set for release on April 25th at 11:00 AM JST. Demand for these plushies was instant and overwhelming.

According to the official Mother Project website, the plush toys went on sale and were completely sold out in less than a day.

International fans wasted no time placing orders, and in some cases, shipments from Japan arrived to their destinations, such as Wisconsin in the United States, within just a few days of purchase. Speaking on behalf of fans, a representative from Nintendo Wire expressed their surprise and delight at the swift arrival of the rare merchandise, noting that these plushies deserved to be showcased beyond simple product photos: "Rather than just snapping some ordinary pictures indoors, we decided to take these beautiful plushies on an outdoor adventure for the best possible gallery." The plush set includes the main characters from Mother 3: Lucas, the courageous protagonist; his twin brother Claus; the tough but kind Kumatora; and the loyal Duster.

Each plush has been crafted with a high level of quality, consistent with previous merchandise released under the Mother Project banner.

Fans familiar with earlier collections, such as the Chosen Four plush set from EarthBound, can expect the same attention to detail and craftsmanship. Although this initial batch has sold out, there is hope for those who missed out.

The Mother Project has a history of restocking popular items, and Nintendo Wire has advised fans to follow them on Twitter for updates regarding potential restocks and pre-order alerts.

With the game's ongoing popularity and the resurgence of EarthBound merchandise, these plushies are quickly becoming a must-have collector’s item within the Nintendo community. For importers and dedicated Mother fans around the world, this is yet another sign of the franchise’s enduring legacy.

As demand for Mother 3 and its related products grows, be sure to stay tuned to official channels and fan outlets like Nintendo Wire for the latest on restocks, new merchandise, and Nintendo Switch Online updates.
