Description

The highly anticipated launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 has not only delivered massive hardware success but also remarkable accessory sales, most notably for the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller.

As the latest iteration of Nintendo’s flagship console arrived in the United States, new sales data highlights an overwhelming response from early adopters for the premium accessory lineup. Circana, a respected market analysis firm formerly known as NPD Group, has released official sales figures for the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller.

According to the company’s data, approximately 512,000 units of the Pro Controller were sold in the United States during the console’s first month on the market.

This represents a striking attach rate of 32 percent—meaning almost one in every three Nintendo Switch 2 owners chose to purchase the upgraded controller at launch. Despite a higher retail price of $85, which is a modest increase from the original Pro Controller's $80 launch price due to tariff-related adjustments, consumer enthusiasm remained undiminished.

The strong attach rate underscores the high demand for premium Nintendo accessories and points to a dedicated fanbase willing to invest in enhanced hardware experiences. Additional accessory data released by Circana reveals that Nintendo’s official camera peripheral posted more modest numbers.

In a statement to Game File, Circana gaming industry analyst Mat Piscatella described the Nintendo Switch 2 camera’s attach rate as a "mid-single digit percentage," indicating more limited appeal compared to the Pro Controller. These accessory sales accompanied unprecedented overall success for the Nintendo Switch 2 itself.

In June, the Nintendo Switch 2 sold a landmark 1.6 million units in the U.S.

alone, making it the best-selling launch month for any gaming hardware in U.S.

history, according to Circana’s figures.

The record-setting debut highlights Nintendo’s continued strength in the console market and the brand’s enduring popularity among gamers. Circana’s comprehensive June report also detailed best-selling titles across all platforms, with Nintendo-specific software rankings underscoring the platform’s robust third-party and first-party lineup.

While the full leaderboard provides further insight into consumer preferences, the exceptional sales of the Switch 2 Pro Controller serve as a clear indicator of accessory demand at launch. With the Nintendo Switch 2 firmly establishing itself as a top contender in the current console generation, continued interest in official accessories like the Pro Controller and camera suggests an ongoing appetite for premium gaming experiences within the Nintendo ecosystem.
