MOUSE: P.I. for Hire Announced for Nintendo Switch: Noir Cartoon Shooter Set for 2025 Release

During the recent Xbox Partner Direct presentation, the 1930s noir cartoon-themed shooter MOUSE: P.I.

for Hire captured significant attention for its unique visual style and exciting gameplay.

Now, it has been confirmed that MOUSE: P.I.

for Hire is also heading to the Nintendo Switch family of systems, with a planned release window of 2025.  Developed as a first-person shooter with a distinct art direction reminiscent of classic animation, MOUSE: P.I.

for Hire places players in the role of private investigator Jack Pepper.

Once celebrated as a war hero, Pepper has transitioned into a life of detective work within the gritty world of Mouseburg—a city rife with corruption, crime, and hidden dangers.

The game’s narrative begins with a familiar trope—a damsel in distress—but soon evolves into an intricate investigation involving murder, deceit, and a tangled web of conspiracies. Jack Pepper’s quest for justice leads him through non-linear environments, exposing the city’s seedy underbelly while facing an array of notorious villains and crooks.

With each step, players unravel deeper layers of intrigue, encountering unexpected adversaries and navigating a network of shady locales, from noir film studios and bustling casinos to shadowy docks and treacherous swamps.

The developers have crafted richly detailed levels that reward exploration, offering collectibles, clues, mini-games, and secrets hidden throughout Mouseburg’s sprawling map. A notable feature of MOUSE: P.I.

for Hire is its inventive use of power-ups and weaponry.

Players can mix and match upgrades and comical arms to suit their preferred playstyle—choosing to knock down, slash, or blow apart enemies in creative ways.

Examples include boosting melee attacks with a can of Spike-D Spinach, soaring between platforms with a helicopter, or swinging across chasms using a grappling hook attached to Jack’s mouse tail.

Classic gunplay is complemented by a diverse arsenal, from crackling tommy guns to bombastic explosives, all presented with an unmistakable blend of noir grit and cartoon chaos. In an official statement, the development team described MOUSE: P.I.

for Hire as a fusion of playful shooter mechanics and visual storytelling: “We wanted to create a world where danger and comedy go hand in hand, blending noir atmosphere with slapstick action.” This combination is evident in the game’s health display, enemy behavior, and boss encounters, providing a lighthearted spin on classic first-person shooter gameplay. MOUSE: P.I.

for Hire will be available on the Nintendo Switch, adding to the platform’s diverse library of innovative indie games when it launches in 2025.

Fans can look forward to more announcements and details through Nintendo Direct presentations and the Nintendo eShop as the release approaches.

The game’s debut on the Switch aligns with Nintendo’s ongoing support for standout indie titles, ensuring both longtime fans and newcomers have a noir adventure unlike any other in the coming year.
