Fumi and PlaySide have issued the first official patch for Mouse: P.I. For Hire on the Nintendo Switch 2, publishing version v1.0.6 on 2nd April 2026.
The noir-styled, animated detective FPS — which launched earlier this year and received a favorable review from Nintendo Life — now has a range of stability and quality-of-life fixes for Nintendo's new hybrid console.
The developer also confirmed a larger follow-up update focused on optimisation and performance improvements is planned and will be detailed in the coming weeks.
Patch highlights and background
The v1.0.6 update targets multiple progression-blocking issues and language-specific crashes, along with miscellaneous audio and UI fixes.
Key items called out in the official patch notes include a fix for a crash affecting users who selected Traditional Chinese at startup or in settings, refined Simplified Chinese translations, and a resolved black-screen issue in the ‘The Reel Deal’ sequence when lens distortion was disabled.
The update also addresses collision and pathfinding problems in several levels, corrects quest logic that could prevent doors from opening, and fixes instances where enemies failed to deal damage.
Major items from the v1.0.6 notes:
- Fixed crash on startup or in settings when Traditional Chinese language was selected.
- Corrected Simplified Chinese translations and various localization issues.
- Resolved a black-screen blocking issue in ‘The Reel Deal’ and improved the final boss’s movement patterns.
- Fixed collision and progression blockers in levels including Mouseburg Opera, Far Wetlands, Tinsel Ave., Wallop Bay and Curdsville.
- Improved enemy pathfinding and consistency of certain animations (D-Namite throwing, shotgun damage).
- Added an option to opt out of data and analytics tracking in the Settings menu and updated the in‑game Privacy Policy.
- Miscellaneous audio fixes for menus and a fix to ensure licensed music toggles behave as expected.
The team noted improved background process cleanup when closing the game and adjusted quest handling to reduce soft-lock risk.
Developers said a larger Switch 2 patch will follow with broader quality-of-life enhancements and targeted performance and optimisation work.
Reception and context
Nintendo Life awarded Mouse: P.I. For Hire a nine-out-of-ten review, praising the title's animated noir aesthetic and risk-taking design.
In their review they described the game as a notable achievement that balances challenging gameplay with bold creative choices.
Players on the Nintendo Switch 2 can download the v1.0.6 update through the console's update system or the eShop and should expect further improvements in upcoming patches.
