Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Physical Editions Confirmed for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 Digital Eclipse and Atari have officially revealed that the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will receive physical editions, bringing the iconic fighting franchise to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

This announcement provides confirmation after a release date leak just days earlier, thrilling long-time Mortal Kombat fans eager to expand their collections. A highlight of the Legacy Kollection is the inclusion of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, originally released in 1996.

This title is renowned for assembling every playable character from the original 2D era of Mortal Kombat into a single, fan-favorite package.

In a newly released trailer, Digital Eclipse showcases updated footage of the Trilogy alongside glimpses of the interactive documentary content featured in the collection, offering both nostalgia and new insights for players and collectors alike. Pre-orders for Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection are now open on the official Atari website, featuring three editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Kollector’s Edition.

According to information shared by IGN, the Standard Edition for Nintendo Switch is priced at $49.99, while Nintendo Switch 2 owners can expect to pay $59.99.

Both versions come with a physical cartridge containing the complete game, and early adopters will receive an exclusive slipcover as a Day One bonus when pre-ordering. Those seeking additional memorabilia can opt for the Deluxe Edition, which offers a collection of extras including a Steelbook case, mini marquees, a magnet, poster, lenticular card, arcade flyers, and arcade cabinet cards.

The Deluxe Edition is available at $69.99 for Nintendo Switch and $79.99 for Nintendo Switch 2, designed to appeal to both serious collectors and fans. For the most dedicated Mortal Kombat enthusiasts, the Kollector’s Edition is designed in collaboration with Limited Run Games.

This premium set comes housed in a special, numbered collector’s box and features a Goro controller holder statue, a commemorative arcade token, a hardcover art and lore book, and a unique pin set.

Priced at $149.99 for both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, this edition offers an exclusive unboxing experience for fans. The Standard and Deluxe Editions of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection are set to ship on December 12, 2024.

While shipment dates for the Kollector’s Edition are yet to be announced, fans can expect updates in the coming months.

Earlier reports, including a listing on the Xbox app, had suggested a late September release window, but the official shipping date for most editions is now confirmed. Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection’s arrival on Switch platforms highlights Digital Eclipse and Atari’s ongoing commitment to preserving gaming history and catering to a passionate fanbase.

With multiple editions to choose from and classic content revived for a new generation, this release stands as a milestone for the Mortal Kombat franchise and a significant addition to the Nintendo Switch and hardware library.
