Konami has released a platform-by-platform technical breakdown for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, providing official resolution, frame-rate and storage figures ahead of the collection's launch on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on August 27, 2026.

The compilation packages remasters of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and will be available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and both Switch platforms.

According to Konami's published specifications, Metal Gear Solid 4 runs at up to 60 fps on Nintendo Switch 2 and consoles/PC, but is capped at 30 fps on the original Nintendo Switch.

For Switch 2, Konami lists a handheld output of 1920x1080 and up to 4K (3840x2160) when docked, with an internal rendering target of up to 2560x1440 in docked mode.

The original Switch outputs 1280x720 in handheld and 1920x1080 when docked.

Konami notes approximate required storage of 26GB for the Switch 2 version and about 36GB for the original Switch release of Metal Gear Solid 4.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker also receives upgraded modes on Switch 2, with Konami listing up to 1920x1080 output and a 60 fps cap when using the enhanced Switch 2 build.

On the original Switch the Peace Walker build is limited to 720p and 30 fps.

Konami lists Peace Walker storage at roughly 13GB for the Switch 2 build and about 15GB for the original Switch build.

Bonus content for the Master Collection is approximately 1GB on all platforms and is listed at 1080p on Switch 2 and 720p on the original Switch, with a 60 fps cap in the bonus package across platforms.

Konami emphasizes that the numbers are upper limits and subject to change in practice.

The publisher says the listed values represent maximum achievable outputs and cautions that frame rates may drop during heavy on-screen effects or certain video playback scenes.

It also confirms image-mode options on Switch 2: Metal Gear Solid 4 can use 'Adjusted' or 'Original' modes when docked (handheld limited to 'Original'), while Peace Walker on Switch 2 offers 'Original' and 'High Resolution' modes.

These image-mode options are not available on the original Nintendo Switch.

The technical disclosure gives Switch 2 owners the clearest performance gains in this Master Collection, while original Switch players receive validated 720p/30 fps targets for the main entries.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 arrives August 27, 2026 on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and other listed platforms.
