Dogpile coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 — roguelike deck-builder headed to Nintendo eShop

Publishers Wings, Studio Folly and Toot Games have announced Dogpile, a roguelike deck-builder, for release on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

The team confirmed the title will launch digitally via the Nintendo eShop; no firm release date or window has been provided.

Dogpile blends deck-building mechanics with a merging system centred on cute canine units.

The publisher described the core merge mechanic in energetic terms; in journalistic language, they explained that combining two identical dog cards merges them into a single, larger dog.

This merging is intended to be the primary route to upgrading units and building stronger cards over the course of a run.

Key features outlined by the publisher include:

- Merge mechanics: Players can merge two identical dogs to create a larger unit, requiring strategic placement and purchasing decisions to maximize merges.

- Deck management: The game focuses on collecting, organising and upgrading a variety of dog cards while controlling board clutter to pursue the "biggest" dogs.

- Traits and customisation: Dogs come with traits—examples cited include Barky, Sleepy, Timid and Cool—that affect behaviour.

A "Dog Wash" feature and collectible Dog Tags add further trait synergy and modify how units perform.

- Combos and modifiers: Dog Tags act as modifiers that can create synergies between traits and change how merges and cards interact during runs.

Dogpile will be distributed digitally on the Nintendo eShop for both Nintendo Switch generations, according to the announcement.

Beyond the platform and storefront details, the publishers have not disclosed a release date or a launch window.

Dogpile enters a crowded indie space that has seen several successful deck-builders and roguelikes on Nintendo platforms in recent years.

The title’s emphasis on merging units and trait-driven synergies positions it alongside other tactical card-based indies while leaning into a distinctive, dog-themed identity.

This report is based on the publisher announcement as relayed by Alex Seedhouse.
