Mario Kart Tour Update Adds Special Mario Kart World Content for Switch 2 Launch

Nintendo continues to expand the reach of its iconic racing franchise with a new update for Mario Kart Tour, the popular mobile iteration of the Mario Kart series.

As anticipation builds for the upcoming release of Mario Kart World on the Nintendo Switch 2, players of Mario Kart Tour can look forward to exclusive in-game content tying these two titles together. Mario Kart Tour launched in September 2019 for iOS and Android, quickly becoming one of Nintendo's most successful mobile games.

The game has consistently received fresh content through themed tours, character additions, and regular seasonal updates.

According to Nintendo, this "special campaign" is exclusive to Mario Kart Tour and coincides with the return of the fan-favorite Pipe Tour, now running its second edition.

These additions offer players a chance to experience elements inspired by Mario Kart World before its debut on the next-generation hardware. As part of the Sunshine Tour event, the Mario Kart World collaboration campaign in Mario Kart Tour will run from July 23, 2025, until August 6, 2025.

Players can unlock the new karts and costumes by participating in limited-time challenges and in-game tasks.

This event not only celebrates the series' legacy but also demonstrates how Nintendo continues to blur the lines between its console and mobile experiences. In addition to the Mario Kart Tour update, Nintendo announced a related event for Super Mario Run, the company's mobile platformer.

To commemorate the launch of Donkey Kong Bananza, players can unlock themed statues by participating in this special event, which is available until August 28, 2025. These efforts reflect Nintendo's ongoing dedication to bringing fresh experiences across platforms, leveraging its most beloved franchises for both new and existing fans.

With Mario Kart World set to expand the popular racer onto the Switch 2, the renewed activity in Mario Kart Tour and crossover content in Super Mario Run signal a robust schedule for Nintendo’s mobile and console offerings through summer 2025.
