Description

Inti Creates, the acclaimed Japanese developer known for hits like Blaster Master Zero and Azure Striker Gunvolt, has officially launched its latest title, Majogami, on both Nintendo Switch and the new Nintendo Switch 2.

The much-anticipated 2D action platformer became available this week as a digital release via the Nintendo eShop, bringing unique gameplay mechanics and striking visuals to Nintendo’s hardware lineup. Set in a vividly imaginative world crafted by Inti Creates' celebrated art director Yuji Natsume, Majogami follows the journey of Shiroha, a young woman who has lost her memory.

Accompanied by her father Shiori—mysteriously transformed into paper—Shiroha wields her trusty katana, Kamikiri, to slice through bizarre, hostile landscapes.

The pair’s story unfolds as players explore a world that masterfully blends papercraft artistry with dark, atmospheric visuals. Gameplay in Majogami offers fast-paced, fluid combat anchored by the "Setsuna" ability—a mechanic that allows players to attack and maneuver with incredible speed and precision.

Using Setsuna, Shiroha can strike enemies instantly while also dodging threats and traversing obstacles with smooth transitions.

The system not only encourages aggressive play, but also introduces novel movement options, rewarding skilled timing and mastery in combat. Throughout the adventure, players collect "Recarte" cards, which are pieces of Shiroha’s forgotten memories.

Along the way, Shiroha confronts a diverse cast of enemies known as the Majogami—divine beings called Craft Witches who each possess formidable magical abilities and complex motives.

By overcoming these adversaries, Shiroha gradually regains her past, deepens her bond with Shiori, and uncovers the emotional core of the narrative. Another standout feature is the "Astral" transformation system.

As players build energy in battle, Shiroha can tap into the powers of guardian deities known as Astrals.

These transformations, showcased with lush animations, allow her to access new abilities and deliver devastating moves like the Celestial Serenade—a signature attack that can turn the tide in challenging encounters. In an official statement, Inti Creates highlighted how Majogami’s design combines distinctive art direction with innovative gameplay.

The development team emphasized that the game’s world, crafted under Yuji Natsume’s vision, uniquely blends handcrafted paper effects and dynamic action to deliver a fresh experience on Nintendo Switch.

Players can expect full Japanese voice acting, richly animated sequences, and a cast of antagonists, each with their own compelling backstory and visually striking design. Majogami is available for download now on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 platforms.

While the title is primarily positioned as a digital release, information regarding a physical version is also available for collectors and dedicated fans. With its engaging blend of story, artistry, and modern platforming action, Majogami stands as a compelling new addition to the Nintendo Switch library in 2024.
