Classic JRPG enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as the Lunar Remastered Collection is officially set to launch on Nintendo Switch on April 18, 2025.
Developed by renowned studio GAME ARTS, the new collection marks the return of two of the most cherished turn-based role-playing games from the 1990s.
Players can experience these timeless titles either digitally via the Nintendo eShop for $49.99 USD / €49.99 EUR, or physically, with copies available for $54.99 USD at Amazon.com and €54.99 EUR through Clear River Games.
The Lunar Remastered Collection brings together the first two entries in the celebrated series: Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete.
These versions are based on the iconic PlayStation remasters, themselves updates of the original Sega CD releases, Lunar: The Silver Star and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue.
With this edition, the series’ vibrant world and beloved characters have been updated with a host of modern enhancements, designed to both honor the originals and appeal to a new generation of JRPG fans.
Notable upgrades include new language support for both French and German, along with revised battle strategy settings intended to streamline combat for a smoother gaming experience.
Players will also find a speed-up function to hasten battles and exploration, as well as the ability to toggle between classic and remastered visuals at any time.
GAME ARTS, best known for the Grandia series as well as Lunar, is offering something special for European fans: this release marks the first time Lunar 2: Eternal Blue is officially available in Europe.
The Lunar series previously appeared on Nintendo's platforms with Lunar Legend for Game Boy Advance in 2002 and Lunar: Dragon Song on Nintendo DS, further rooting its legacy within the Nintendo ecosystem.
Adding to the collection’s appeal, acclaimed artist Toshiyuki Kubooka has created two new illustrations featuring the iconic casts from both games.
These exclusive artworks will serve as reversible covers for the physical editions, offering collectors and longtime fans a unique way to display their love of the series.
With its blend of nostalgic content and thoughtful modern updates, the Lunar Remastered Collection for Nintendo Switch is poised to be a standout release for JRPG fans when it arrives on April 18, 2025.
Whether played digitally or as a physical copy, the collection is a testament to GAME ARTS’ enduring impact on the RPG genre.
