Weird Beluga and Fireshine Games have confirmed a Switch 2 release date for Duskfade, the studio's 3D action-platformer inspired by early 2000s console classics. Revealed during the Future Games Show, the title is now set to launch on August 13, 2026 on Switch 2 alongside previously announced platforms. The Spanish developer Weird Beluga worked with publisher Fireshine Games to highlight the project’s nods to PlayStation 2 and GameCube-era platformers. Fireshine Games described Duskfade as a deliberate homage to PlayStation 2-era classics, noting the team’s intent to evoke the feel and exploration-focused design of that generation. The new trailer shown during the Future Games Show emphasizes broad, varied environments and a mixture of platforming and action combat. Duskfade follows the protagonist Zirian as he navigates a world plunged into eternal night to rescue his sister from a Clock Tower at the heart of a corrupt realm. Accompanied by a mechanical sidekick named Cuckoo, Zirian traverses ethereal forests, underwater sections, sun-scorched dunes and skybound islands. The developer’s synopsis frames each region as a set piece that combines precision platforming, combat and hidden exploration rewards, with the narrative framing each enemy encounter as a symbolic emotional hurdle for the hero. The game’s aesthetic and design cues draw explicit comparisons to series such as Kingdom Hearts and Jak & Daxter, with sizable levels and an emphasis on traversal mechanics like slashing, grinding, jumping and grappling. A playable demo for PC and PS5 is available now, offering an early look at combat and traversal systems ahead of the full launch. Weird Beluga previously released Clid the Snail in 2021 on Steam and PlayStation; Clid the Snail received a Mostly Positive rating on Steam and registered Mixed or Average reviews on Metacritic for its PlayStation release. There is currently no confirmed physical edition for Switch 2, and Fireshine Games has not announced an eShop pre-order window for Nintendo platforms.
